PM Hun Sen Reminds the Governor of the Coastal Province to Ensure the Safety of Tourists Visiting the Islands

Sihanoukville: PM Hun Sen reminded the governor of the coastal provinces to ensure the safety of tourists visiting islands in Cambodia to avoid any incident of a boat sinking.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Sea Festival, Round 3, in Sihanoukville on the evening of December 10, 2022, PM Hun Sen instructed the provincial authorities and all fishermen to monitor the weather, especially to prepare adequate evacuation plans in a timely manner.

PM Hun Sen advised relevant ministries and institutions to prioritize the development of coastal areas, the construction of infrastructure required for the tourism sector, and safe transportation means (land, rail, and air) from one place to another.

It should be noted that a boat sinking case occurred in September 2022, resulting in the deaths of several Chinese people.

PM Hun Sen warned provincial authorities to pay closer attention to the safety of passengers and fishermen at sea because he does not want any more deaths caused by sinking boat to happen again.
